You can look at the amperage reading by pressing the menu button on the keypad. If you have an amperage reading it is making the full and normal amount of chlorine. If you are experiencing low free chlorine readings in the pool then you may have an elevated chlorine demand in the water that needs to be addressed. Common water chemistry levels that cause a higher than normal chlorine demand include pH levels 8.0 and higher, too low or too high cyanuric acid levels, phosphates that are higher than 100 ppb, and elevated nitrate levels.
