The CircuPool Universal Series saltwater chlorinator operates optimally at a salinity level of 3 to 4,000 ppm. If your salt level is too high, the High Salt light will glow solid red, indicating that the chlorinator has stopped producing chlorine. Before reaching that point, the light will flash as a warning. Currently, your water salinity is slightly higher than ideal, but still safe for chlorination.

In answer to the person commenting on this with salinity reporting at 6300, but testing at 3100, you will want to access your System Status menu and determine which Cell Type shows. Since you have a Universal 40, the cell type should be set at "F-15". If it shows a different cell type, change it to F-15 per this video.
If the cell type was already correct or if correcting it did not solve the problem, then you will need to call our Technical Support team weekdays between 9-4:30 Central.
