There is no accurate answer to the typical salt cell's lifespan. Common answers are 3-5 or 5-7 or 3-7 years. Any given salt cell is subject to its capacity relative to the pool size, climate, water chemistry, length of season, bather load, and other variables. Many Salt Cells quote life-spans of up to 10,000 hours with the RJ-PLUS cells showing 15,000 hours. Translating those hours into years of operation is not possible with any reasonable hope of accuracy, but they do provide a strong indicator of comparative lifespan, ie; it's reasonable to expect something on the order of 50% longer life for an RJ-PLUS replacement cell vs a typical 10,000 hour cell.
