Yes, conceptually, a warm or hot solution should behave as you suggest, but we are skeptical of the idea that you can eliminate the acid.

I wasn't very clear about the boiling water. I should have said hot water though I'm not suggesting to use actual boiling water but raising the temp of water increases the kinetic energy of the solution/water making it more efficient than ambient temperatures shortening the time required or eliminating the use of acid which some say is detrimental to process to begin with.
