The CircuPool Universal Series of Salt Chlorinators has a recommended salinity range of 3,000-4,000 PPM. Between 4,000 and 5,000 PPM, your Universal will first display a flashing High Salt light that serves as a warning that the salinity is too high. When the light is flashing, it will still operate and produce chlorine. However, you should be aware that you are near the level of salinity where the light will stop flashing and turn solid which will halt chlorine production. So, if your High Salt light is flashing red, you are still generating chlorine, but you should know that a further increase in salinity could very well halt production. Once the High Salt light is solid red, you are no longer generating chlorine and must reduce the salinity in order to begin generating chlorine again.
