We commonly receive questions seeking advice or validation on using something other than a solution of Muriatic Acid to remove scale and deposits from Salt Cells.
We recommend using a solution of Muriatic Acid and water mixed at the ratio indicated in your owner's manual for cleaning your Salt Cell. The use of Muriatic Acid is thoroughly documented and understood in terms of how much to use, how long to use it, and how often to use it. That is not the case for Dry Acid (Sodium Bisulfate), vinegar, or any of the various other varieties of acid and commercial cleaning products that we are asked about.
We advise against using any other type of acid or substitutes for Muriatic Acid.
