Thank you for your interest. You might be surprised that it is not at all uncommon for these cyclonic prefilters to be used in aquaculture and other related applications. The key to the success of its successful use is the density of the material being removed - if it is heavier that water it should be able to remove it since gravity is what allows the material to drop to the containment chamber. Its body and internal parts are solid plastic. The image below (from the image gallery on the product page) has some specs, including min 13 GPM and max 132 GPM flow rates.
