After activating the PLUS mode in the tech menu when setting up the Balance Control, you can elect to turn on the “Cell Cleaning Mode.” This brings up the main settings menu and the “Acid Cartridge Cleaning” option, within which you can select low, medium, or high levels of acid to be injected after the pump stops and the cell shuts down.
Best practice is to work your way up from low to high, as every pool’s needs are different. Subsequently, the reverse-polarity frequency can be shortened to reduce wear-and-tear associated with polarity reversals, while using the minimum amount of acid injection required to keep the cell clean while also maximizing the cell plate lifespan.
