This prefilter is highly effective at removing sand and sediment.
However, when you say you want to use it "on your home", do you mean on the water supply to your house?
If so, you would want to exercise caution when it comes to whole-house residential use. This prefilter is used in swimming pools (as well as aquaculture) because it relies on centrifugal force to spin sediment out of the water. To generate that force, it requires a minimum constant flow rate of roughly 13 Gallons Per Minute (50 LPM). It also is meant for 2" or 1.5" schedule 40 PVC plumbing. Using it in any application for which it was not designed would have make sure those basic factors are covered, and you'd be taking the risk to try it out for any unique purposes.
