Correct, the generate light will stay on with variable speed pump, Depending the output setting the system has a duty cycle being at 200 mins, for an example if set at 50% the system will produce for 100 mins and rest for another 100 mins. During this time the generate light will still be illuminated. You can check the amps to see if the system is producing, this number should be in a - or + number. If at 0 means is not producing (warning light) or in a rest cycle
