Yes, you can mount the Universal vertically.
If the vertical pipe section is too short, you could use our Vertical Installation Kit on the vertical pipe run - effectively making it horizontal.
Note that with the vertical installation kit, you only need 6 1/2 inches of pipe in which to install it.
