No, you cannot use a RJ60 Plus cell on a SJ40 salt system's controller, there components are completely different and are not compatible in terms of either electronics or plumbing. If you are looking to upgrade and get more chlorination power, this can be a real benefit, but you would need to get a complete salt chlorinator. For the simplest experience in adding a new salt chlorinator, you might consider the 2nd generation SJ55 systems, which should provide a significant amount of additional chlorination capacity, and would require less work to install since it is similar to what you currently have. However, if you want the higher chlorination power, more advanced controls, and longer lifespan/warranty of the RJ60 PLUS, that would be a good reason to go with that system.
