For a 13,500-gallon pool, the 1.3HP SmartFlo Adaptive Flow Pump would be a typical choice based on the sizing alone. The size range of pools it is used on falls within the 5,000 to 18,000 gallon range typically.
Remember that pump sizing is not "one size fits all". A circulation pump's capacity has to take into account not only the pool size, but other factors that impact its operation such as: the total amount of pool piping; elevation changes between pool & equipment pad; presence of water features, spas and/or other pool equipment / booster pumps. For example, greater pump capacity is required for pool equipment that is far away from the pool, pools that have waterfalls, or pools that use pressure-side sweepers.
