As mineral scale builds up in the cell, it makes it harder to send power through it, which means it may also cause a low salt reading. If you're having to clean the cell every week, this is a red flag that there is a high saturation index level (LSI) in the pool's water balance. When high, it makes the water want to get rid of calcium and minerals from being suspended in solution. This level can be balanced (see LSI help-sheet or search for popular resources such as "Orenda LSI calculator"), so that mineral scaling goes back to becoming a much less frequent occurrence. Until this level is balanced, you'll need to clean the cell as often as is necessary in order to allow the salt cell to operate.
