No, the "Vertical Installation Kit" is a just space-saving kit. It is not applicable if you just want to install the cell on a length of existing vertical pipe.
The description says this can be installed horizontally or vertically but then the website shows a ventricle installation kit. Does this mean the unit as purchased cannot be installed vertically out of the box? CircuPool® Classic Combo (Salt Chlorinator + Pump) Universal Series
