The amount chlorine generated is rated in lbs /day and is not a direct or apple to apples comparison to manually added chlorine, as there are many forms and types of chlorine. To set your system, just choose an approximate setting, let it run normally a day or two. Then test the water for free chlorine, and adjust the system up or down accordingly. Usually after doing this a couple times, you will have it dialed in to your pool's unique needs. You can also raise or lower the programmed run time that the system is given.
