If you are experiencing a low salt light on your CircuPool CORE Series Salt Chlorine Generator, despite pool tests indicating a salinity of 3800 ppm, you should first seek a separate test reading. This will help determine if the initial test was incorrect or if the salt chlorinator's low salt light is malfunctioning. If it appears the system is misreading the salinity, conduct an acid wash of the cell, followed by a cleaning in a fresh solution. This will verify if the previous acid wash stopped due to a clean cell or a depleted acid solution. If the cell starts to fizz during the second cleaning, complete it. If it remains unreactive after a few minutes, remove, rinse, and reinstall the cell. If your CircuPool CORE continues to report a low salt condition, get in touch with our Technical Support on weekdays at (866) 766-5243 Central for further assistance.
Separately, if you feel that the cell requires cleaning much more frequently than before, or relative to any past experience, then obtain a fresh pool store water test and utilize an online calculator to determine the pool's LSI, or Saturation Index. The saturation index is a measure of water balance that at one end of the index may cause rapid scaling and at the other extreme may cause pitting or etching of pool surfaces. The same online calculator will either prescribe a course of action, or allow you to test the effect of shifting water values, especially pH, to bring the index reading closer to "balanced."
