The techs may ask you a couple questions about what you see on your unit, so if possible it would be good if you can be nearby it; if not you can just check what they are asking after the call.
- Ensure small arrow (on top of the flow switch) is pointing in the same direction as your water flow. Once the pump is back on, if the “no flow” light is still on or blinking, try adjusting the arrow slightly to the right or left until flow switch is triggered. This might occur when water flow through the flow switch is turbulent, such as if the flow switch is installed too near to a plumbing elbow.
- Check your filter PSI, is it higher than the normal pressure after you’ve cleaned your filter? Check for any other sources of obstructed / limited water flow, or for sources of air in the plumbing.
- Raise variable speed pump up to highest setting for the testing. If the issue does not occur with full water flow, slightly raise the RPM’s of the lower pump speeds in order to ensure that the flow switch is correctly triggered during periods of lower water flow.
- Inspect flow switch wire for any abrasions or cuts to make sure that is not where the issue lies. Damage from animals or landscaping equipment could cause this.
- Unplug the flow switch from the control module and re-install just to be sure it’s plugged in well and fully seated.
- Turn off the pump.
- Unscrew the flow switch from the PVC “T-fitting” or housing depending on the model.
- Verify there is no debris caught in the switch. If debris found, remove debris from flow switch and turn the equipment back on to see if that fixed the problem.
- Wrap a rubber band or wire tie around flow switch to close the circuit. (Some models may require to wedge something behind the flow switch lever to make it stay in the closed position).
- Reinstall flow switch into PVC T-fitting (Housing).
- Turn equipment back on and wait 3 minutes to give the equipment time to detect flow.
- Result (A): If you still see the "No flow" light the flow switch needs to be replaced.
- Result (B): No Flow light turns off; flow switch does NOT need to be replaced. Flow is getting reduced due to an external issue.
- Once testing is complete, remove the rubber band or wire tie from the flow switch. Hand tighten the flow switch back into the housing ensuring it is seated all the way down.
