If you “close” your pool for the winter, you can continue to follow all standard procedures for your local area. The CircuPool RJ-PLUS Series Salt Chlorinators can be damaged by freezing water just as your pool plumbing would. In areas which experience severe or extended periods of freezing temperatures, be sure to drain all water from the pump, filter, supply, and return lines before any freezing conditions occur. If you maintain circulation in the winter but face the risk of a freeze, your Salt Cell can be replaced by a "Winter" or "Bypass" Cell. The Control Module is capable of withstanding any winter weather and does not need to be removed. If you don't "close" your pool, the system will continue to generate until the water is too cold to do so, and you would still want to prevent water from freezing in the plumbing.
