There is no downside to operating a CircuPool RJ-60 PLUS Salt Chlorine Generator, or indeed any of the RJ Plus Series, on 110 volts. These systems ship configured for 220/240 volts, and if you choose to operate one on 110/120, you will need to manually switch the Control Module from 220/240 to 110/120 as detailed on page 18 of the attached owner's manual.
