Standardized manufacturer ratings for Salt Chlorinator system capacity are based on operating full time at full power. The standard for selecting a salt chlorinator is to minimally select a model specified for 2 times the pool volume for pools situated in the southern or sunbelt states, but that 1.5 times is adequate for the rest of the country. Any additional oversizing will pay for itself in longer cell life and short term periods of high demand.
