I need confirmation on how much salt to add to a 30,000 gallon pool that has been freshly loaded with city water with no chemicals. The chart show 876# of Salt. That can't be right. Google indicate about 94#. Is the chart in the book incorrect?

The result you found in Google suggesting 94 lbs of salt for a 30,000 gallon pool is extremely incorrect. If you take a look at page 6 before the chart, it explains that you will "add approximately 30 lbs of salt for every 1000 gallons of water". This is standard for salt chlorinators. Before adding any salt, please be sure to follow the instructions and have your water tested for its salinity (salt level). It is very common to have an existing level of salinity in the water, and in that case you will follow the instructions in the chart and accordingly add a smaller amount of salt. Please let us know what other questions you might have.
