An pocket of air or bubble inside a salt cell can make it harder to pass power through the cell, give inaccurate salt level readings, and/or make it appear the cell needs to be cleaned to trigger an error on the controller.
As described in the manual, the standard installation orients the offset portion of the cell upward, but as mentioned on page 15 if you encounter persistent issues you may orient the offset portion of the cell downward to help make it easier for any air to be flushed out of the plumbing.
However you should check for at least the following two possibilities, since typical flow rates usually will flush air out of the cell. First, check how the pump is running - is the pump providing too low of flow operation during any portion of the day? Especially pump is a typical variable speed pump, it may be turned too low on one of its programmed speeds. If you have a flow meter, ensure at least 20-30 GPM flow rate is maintained; many people don't however, and may have an arbitrarily low RPM setting on the pump. If there is no air while the pump system runs on high speed, but later in the day air has collected there, this may indicate that the low speed setting needs to be raised; consider incrementally raising the low speed setting until this does not occur. Also related, is there anything negatively impacting the pump's flow, such as a filter that needs to be cleaned? Second, check for anything that may be detrimentally introducing air into the plumbing, such as a solar system or such as a bad seal or joint upstream which may be sucking air.
