I'm unsure specifically what you mean by RJ35 and by factory-refurbished unit. An RJ30 cell can work with on the same controller as an RJ45; simply confirm that the system settings in the menu reflect the cell size. If the controller shows a 'check cell' light, the most common potential causes include cell being scaled, low salt in the water, and insufficient water flow / air in the system. If its been a couple months, start by following the instructions in the manual to clean the cell; the frequency of the need to clean a cell is based on your water balance's LSI (saturation index level), which can easily change. An imbalanced LSI can cause a cell to potentially need to be cleaned as quickly as 24 hours later, and with a balanced LSI cleaning in a matter of 2-3 months would not be completely out of the ordinary.
