A flashing or solid Low Salt light on the EDGE salt system means something is making it harder than normal sending power through the cell. If you have independently tested the salinity at 4,400 ppm, this is within the unit’s 3,000–4,500 ppm operating range, do not add any more salt.
With salt confirmed at that level, view the low salt light troubleshooting guide on the EDGE product support page, and be sure check these items:
Inspect the cell for mineral scale or debris. A scaled cell can cause a low-salt indication even when the pool’s actual salt level is adequate. Clean the cell according to the instructions in the manual, and if you see fizzing allow the cell to soak to remove mineralization which could be causing the issue.
Ensure no air is present in the cell when it is running.
Not likely to have been done inadvertently, but double check that the controller is programmed for the right cell size. In the programming check, the output graph should show 8 LEDs for EDGE40.
If the cell is clean and the controller is correctly set, the flashing light can indicate that the cell is becoming depleted.
There is no need to drain water solely because the independent test reads 4,400 ppm, but avoid adding salt and use an independent salt test before making any adjustment. Please let us know what other questions you might have.
