Yes, the RJ cell on its own can be installed either horizontally or vertically. The vertical installation kit would be installed on a horizontal section of piping, and is used to minimize the "footprint" of the RJ salt cell and its flow switch in order to help it get installed in pool systems with a tighter setup.
