The rate of mineral scale build up is dependent on what is called the “Langelier Saturation Index” or LSI on your pool water chemistry report, which prevents excessive scaling, for most people regardless of model the cell should need to be cleaned every 4-8 weeks on average. More frequent scaling indicates a high LSI, and balancing that reduces the rate of scaling.
