If I power cycle the unit, the salt light will initially come up green and generate salt. After sometime, I occassionally see a blinking red salt light. I cleaned the cell and did not help.

With a CircuPool SJA Series Salt Chlorinator, a flashing red Salt light indicates that the controller is identifying salinity as nearly out of operating range. The chlorinator will continue to generate chlorine until the light stays on solid red. You may wish to add salt or dilute the pool water to shift the salinity towards the center of the prescribed range.
