It would be best practices to disconnect the salt system from the power source, not to disconnect the salt system's power cable from its control box (this could potentially leave a "live wire" hanging there once the wire is removed from the salt system).
Most CORE models utilize a standard 120V plug, so the first step would be to trace its power cable back to the power source and see if it is a weather-protected outlet. If so, simply disconnect its power cable. If the CORE has been hard-wired into a power source, a qualified person should follow all proper precautions and disconnect it there.
If a hard-wired power source such as a timer is being used, it is typically very simple to open the timer cover / door, and unscrew the cable's wires from the relay terminals. For contrast, it would likely be more work to try to disconnect the cable from inside of the CORE controller.
A qualified person would of course start any work by turning off power to all equipment and confirming this, and would take note of how the wires are currently connected before making any modifications.
